I will work from clear, sharp photographs. One photograph should be of the pose you would like me to paint. Other photographs can show details you prefer (example: ear position, color of fur). You can include a photograph of the background you would like me to paint if it is different from the main pose photograph, or I can create a non-detailed background using colors you like that best serve the subject of the painting .
Backgrounds should not overwhelm the subject (your pet), therefore colors and details will be treated with artistic discretion (examples: 1: a brown dog would disappear if painted in front of a brown wall. 2: a busy background would fight for attention with the subject). I will discuss these problems with you as they occur.
I will email you a form in which you will give me additional information about your pet, such as your favorite features (example: ear position, color of fur, eye color, favorite toy). Included in this form will be a price schedule that addresses canvas size choices, number of heads or full figures, complex or non-detailed background.
House and Garden:
I will work from clear, sharp photographs.
I will email you a form in which you will give me additional information about your home, such as the season, time of day, weather condition and colors, if they are different than the photograph. I can work with multiple photographs, especially if you want to include a special feature (example: a fountain or plant). Included in this form will be a price schedule that addresses canvas size choices, number of features, complex or non-detailed background.
Many of my commissioned paintings came into being because someone loved my artwork but wanted a painting of a subject special to them. Another situation that occurs is wanting a similar painting in another color scheme or size. Please contact me with your ideas, and the name of the painting that inspired you, and I will email you a form that will address the subject, colors and a price schedule for the different canvas sizes.
I require a 50% deposit to start the process which begins with a sketch. I will then send you a copy for your approval of the pose and composition, and any other feedback you may have.
I usually allow 12 weeks for the painting process which starts from receipt of sketch approval, the clearing of the banking process (50% deposit) to finishing of the painting. Therefore, if the painting is a gift or needed for a special occasion, please place your commission order with this in mind. I will work on your commission in the order in which it is received. Occasionally scheduling conflicts do occur that will lengthen the time frame, but this will be addressed before the commission agreement is signed.
